Review of The Good The Bad and the Weird (Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom)

The Good The Bad and the Weird (Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom)

I saw this film at the Cork Film Festival last month and I never got around to writing a review so here we go. What an amazing film! The Good The Bad and The Weird is a Korean comedy loosely based on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The story follows three bandits in Japanese controlled Manchuria in 1930s. The settings is amazing and the story line hooks you in. The action is top notch as you should expect from an eastern film. Byung-hun Lee who plays the Bad is amazing in the role and really is that (hot) bad guy that in some way wouldnt mind if he won. Kang-ho Song who plays the Weird is brilliant at playing a outlaw with a very shady past. Woo-sung Jung who plays the Good which is a fascinating character as he tries to bring the others to justice.

An excellent film that is well cast and well worth seeing! The reason that I am only giving it four stars is the fact that it is in Korean and you have to read the subtitles which will always hold me back from awarding the full five stars!
