Changes are coming

Wow, Did you know I started blogging nearly four years ago? Well I did. I started blogging on the 21st of March 2005. On that day I had two posts, one about China and one about the Environment.

Four years is a long time to dedicate something, granted at times this blog has fallen to the wayside, but I do always come back, and now I am nearly blogging daily!

To Celebrate four years of blogging look out for anniversary posts running up to Saturday and (hopefully!) on Saturday this blog will take a new turn!

First Th!nk Post

Location of European Atomic Energy CommunityImage via Wikipedia

Well my first post is up on the Th!nk about it blog. It is on "How do we make Europe Sexy?". Please read, comment and vote!

Heres an excerpt from it:

One of the issues that kept coming up during the Launch event last week in Brussels was how do we make Europe Sexy? By Europe I mean the European Union. This is something that I have spent much time thinking about since getting back to Ireland.

I cannot think of any country in the world where politics is considered sexy except in the USA where Obama reinvigorated politics, but how can that work in a disconnected Europe?

So this is post number 1000! Wow, I've been blogging now for a month and a bit short of four years, but still, I feel like this is a bit of an achievement! That or I need a life, especially considering this is also post number 60 of 2009, yup definately need a life!

But in other news the Blogging Competition starts over on thinkaboutit.eu. It launches at midnight tonight and I plan to have my first post up on it at some point tomorrow and I hope then to start getting you all to vote (for me!)! So expect plenty of begging posts during the competition. I will be cross posting the entries during the competition so opinions can be given here or on the competition blog.

Anyway thanks for sticking with me over the last 999 posts! Heres to 1000 more!

Update: So yea, Gamma was right, this isnt my 1000th post, stupid dashboard was counting drafts aswell :(

Blogging Competition

Think about it is a european blogging competition. The full details of which is on the website.

What does it entail?

Each participant will post at least once a month (February 1 – June 9, 2009) on the THINK ABOUT IT Elections 2009 blogsite. In February and March, any European-related topic is welcome and from April-June the theme is the European Elections 2009 (issues, candidates, parties, EP, national views on the elections). Photos, audio and video are always encouraged! Postings have to be made in English (does not have to be perfect English; the five site editors can help with the language, if the blogger so wishes).

It sounds interesting and as I will be involved with the European Campiagn here in Ireland South it should be really interesting.

Plurking about

Those of you who read this blog and were on my twitter knew I was fairly good at updating that in Germany but since I got back I'm useless! There is a reason for this. My tweets fell off after they had problems with the IM use. Thats how I used it so I havent used it really since then. Tough I went mad on it last night!

On Friendfeed tough I discovered a new (well new to me) site and its like twitter in the fact that its micro blogging. Those with eagle eyes will have noticed the new box on the sidebar but, for those who haven't check out my plurk and have a poke around and maybe join it?

I prefer it to twitter as to me its more fluid and interactive. its great that it keeps track of conversations so there is no searching through pages looking for stuff. Its all neat and tidy and there is plenty of customisable stuff on the site too as long as you keep your karma up, which is interesting in its own way!

So take a look and join me?

Introducing The Daily Bohomian

Ever find a blog that has you laughing at points and nodding philsophicaly at others and gets an important point across too? (No I am not vain enough to be on about my own blogs, I know its shite at times!) Well after I started a thread on PolUK, one of the players, who happens to be my boss IG (in game for all those not in the know), started a blog called:

The Daily Bohomian

Its a fantastic blog which has me laughing, thinking, feeling sad and proud! An excellent read. I hope he continues to post!

So thats two other PolUK Bloggers.... any more out there?

Intersting Project from the UK House of Lords

Via Revolts.co.uk

An interesting initiative from the House of Lords, in association with the Hansard Society, Lords of the Blog, is a multi-authored blog from nine members of the House of Lords, and which has the potential to be very useful.

It is a very interesting blog with a member from the Labour benches, Conservative benches and Crossbenchers (the Convenor of all people!) as well as 6 other independent Lords. It is an interesting read to see what goes on in the upper house of the UK.
